book club

My mom put together a book club this summer with a few of her friends and their first book was "Eat Pray Love". When I came home to visit for the week, she told me that their first meeting would be at a local restaurant here in town, Gianna's. I LOVE Gianna's, so when I found this out, I asked if I could come. She said I would have to read the book. No problem. I had it done the day after she bought it for me. Pathetic, I know, that I would do something at the drop of a hat just to eat some food, but what you have to understand is that 1. it was a book. i love books. not a bad deal for me. 2. it's REALLY good food. Oh, and even though this isn't really what my post is about, I will throw in that the book was really good and I highly recommend it.

Anyway, so I go to book club and (now, don't tell my mom I said this) it's so funny because it's all these ladies in their 40's and 50's, who all sound, when you think about it, like hens in a hen house. Quite entertaining. But it was so much fun, and I thought, 'What if I started a book club with some of my friends?' And my next thought was, 'What are you, a total nerd, Chelsey?!' In which I replied, quite frankly, 'Actually, yes. Yes, I am.'

So! Book club anyone? I'll probably send out a facebook message to people I think would be interested, and even though it will be difficult to do since a lot of my friends are all over the place, my mom lodged the idea of using video chat to include those who can't physically attend the meetings! If not that, then perhaps writing an email of all your thoughts on the book for us to read aloud at the meetings and discuss. Just an idea. If enough people go for it, why not? My mom's book club chose "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" as their next book, so I'll be reading that this month. This could be the book for my possibly-future-book-club, or we could decide on another. Doesn't matter to me! I can read two books at once, no problem : )

Ciao,
Chelsey
